What is an oral surgery

Oral surgery is the part of dentistry that deals with tooth and root extraction, soft tissue surgery, root extractions and implant placement.

An oral surgery procedure can include tooth extraction as well as small incisions. The surgery is preceded by a diagnosis of oral and dental disease and an assessment of any damage. The final decision on whether oral surgery is necessary is made by your doctor.

Dental surgery is usually performed with local anesthesia. Depending on the need, it may be necessary to spread the procedures over several visits.

Before and after the procedure, we'll give you tips on how to maintain oral hygiene and care for your wound to speed up recovery. We are also available and ready to answer any questions you may have.

Surgical dentistry includes:

  • tooth extraction
  • tooth root removal
  • removal of the wisdom tooth
  • removal of a decayed tooth
  • surgical correction of lip/tongue frenulum
  • cosmetic gum plastic surgery
  • operations on soft tissues
  • root tip operation
  • bone augmentation
  • implant placement
