Hygiene<\/h2>\n

We recommend to our patients to visit a dental hygienist to have their teeth cleaned at least once a year. The hygienist removes tartar, plaque and pigmentation from the teeth, teaches you hygiene techniques and gives recommendations. <\/p>\n

In our clinic, our hygienist uses the Swiss EMS AIRFLOW Prophylaxis Master<\/a> tooth cleaning equipment. <\/p>\n

Why do you need to visit a dental hygienist?<\/h2>\n

Deposits that build up on the teeth - tartar, plaque, etc. - contain bacteria that cause inflammation in the gums and lead to cavities, or caries. <\/div>\n

Gingivitis (gum disease) is preventable and treatable with proper dental care. If left untreated, gingivitis develops into periodontitis (also known as periodontal disease). Periodontal disease is an inflammation of the tissues that attach the teeth, which causes the teeth to loosen and can lead to tooth loss. <\/div>\n

The microbes that cause periodontitis affect the whole health and body and if left untreated can lead to inflammation in other organs, as the microbes can be spread around the body by the bloodstream. The most important task of treating periodontitis is to stop the inflammation process, i.e. to remove and reduce the pathogens. <\/div>\n

That is why it is essential to remove plaque and tartar from the gums and gum pockets. It is also important to keep the teeth healthy.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
