Implant placement
Dental implant placement is the safest and most preferred way to replace damaged, missing or extracted teeth today. Compared to dentures, implants are more comfortable and seem like own natural teeth.
Kristina Kiisa Dental Clinic is a good choice for implant placement we have more than 20 years of experience in implant placement.
Both Swedish and Estonian colleagues refer their patients to our clinic for prosthetics and implants.
We use the Swiss and German implants, such as Straumann, ICX and Dentsply Ankylos.
The process of implant placement
Implants consist of a screw, usually made of titanium, which acts as a tooth root onto which a dental crown is attached. Implants are surgically placed and can be used to replace individual teeth or to secure a denture in case of partial or complete toothlessness (edentulism).
What to expect after implantation
A dental implant is surgically placed in the jawbone and the procedure is performed under local anaesthesia.
After implant placement , the healing or ossification period is usually 3-6 months before the teeth are attached to the implant. In a few cases, it is possible to have a new tooth fitted immediately after implant surgery.
If necessary, a temporary prosthesis will be prepared for the healing period of the implant, which will not support the implant. We will always provide oral hygiene instructions after the operation.
As the process of implantation is usually several months long, people are understandably frightened about what will happen to their smile. This is particularly a concern when it comes to replacing the front teeth. When front teeth implant can be fixed, we will fit a temporary crown. This way, you can keep smiling during treatment and don't have to hold your mouth tightly shut.
